Our approach

One world model

No brand, reputation or employee measure moves in isolation. People's judgments of a firm form inside everything else that is happening to them: the economy, the news, the issues of the day, the channels through which they come into contact with the firm. StakeholderWatch embeds every service in one behavioural model that holds all of this at once.

What the model holds

The model has macro issues, macro concerns, social events and social channels as inputs; beliefs as the mediating layer, formed daily; reputation and the value of what the firm offers as the two evaluations; and the behavioural intentions (to buy, to work for, to influence others) as outcomes. It was developed with researchers at VU Amsterdam and has been in daily use since 2022. It is described in full on the Theoretical model page.

Why one model rather than one per service

Estimating a service's measures inside the whole model is what allows an effect to be isolated. A reputation coefficient estimated this way is the effect of reputation with inflation, the week's news and the firm's own advertising held constant. A brand effect is the effect of the brand with the reputation of the firm behind it held constant. Without the rest of the world in the model, each of these numbers would absorb the others, and none could be acted on with confidence.

The same model for every stakeholder

Customers, employees, investors and the public are each measured in their own survey, but all are read through the same frame. This is what makes it possible to see where a change among one group reaches another, which a set of unrelated surveys cannot show.
