Brand tracking
A brand tracker measures, at regular intervals, what a brand's public knows, thinks and intends: awareness, consideration, preference, the beliefs that make up the brand's image, and the intention to buy. It is the instrument marketing teams use to judge whether campaigns, pricing and product changes are reaching people, and it rests on a long line of research into how attitudes form and predict behaviour (Ajzen & Fishbein, 1980; Fazio, 1990; Petty & Krosnick, 1995). The classic tracker reports these measures as a series of waves and leaves the marketing team to read the causes from the shape of the lines.
Daily, with the causes estimated
StakeholderWatch's brand tracker runs every day rather than in waves, for one brand at a time, among that brand's own public. The daily series changes what the tracker can say. A campaign's effect appears as a dated coefficient on preference and buying intention, estimated with the rest of the model held constant, rather than as a bump on a chart that may or may not coincide with the media plan. Price perception, product beliefs, news contact, social media and the macro conditions of the week are estimated alongside advertising, so the team sees not only whether preference moved but what share of the move each factor carried. Where a competitor is measured on the same panel, the tracker also shows how much of a move is the category's and how much is the brand's.
Brand and reputation in one instrument
The brand measures sit inside the same behavioural model that StakeholderWatch uses for reputation and stakeholder research. In that model, contact through channels changes beliefs, beliefs change the evaluation of the brand and of the firm behind it, and those evaluations change what people buy and recommend. Measuring brand and reputation in one instrument means the marketing team and the communications team read the same data and can see where a reputational issue reaches the brand, or where a campaign lifts the firm's standing beyond the product.
What the client receives is the standard brand tracking measures for any segment the sample supports, the causal coefficients for every factor in the model, the dated structural breaks, the category comparison where competitors are measured, and every raw respondent record. The tracker is built to be read without an analyst.
Our approach
Real-time, which means daily. Every study collects a fresh sample every day of the year at the same rate. A change appears in the data on the day it happens, and the estimation that runs every evening carries it onto the dashboard the next morning. Daily collection is the condition for causal estimation: a break can be dated to a day only if there is data for every day.
Real people, verified. We work with several panel bureaus selected against our verification standard, run our own detection on every complete, and remove failures before they reach the model. No large language models, no synthetic respondents, no synthetic sampling.
One world model. Every service is embedded in one behavioural model that holds the economy, the news, the issues of the day and the contact channels at once, so the service's own effects can be isolated from everything else that moves people.
Causal intelligence for every service. The structural equation model is re-estimated every evening and shows the causal effect of more than fifty factors, with an effect shown only when it reaches statistical significance.
Dedicated, never omnibus. Every study is designed for one client and fielded for that client alone. Respondents are not shared between clients.
Raw data, always. Every respondent record is the client's own and can be downloaded at any moment, with the codebook and weights. The coefficients on the dashboard can be reproduced from the raw data.
Track record
Brands in food, retail, insurance, energy and automotive have been tracked this way since 2013, several continuously since 2015.
